Six things you ought to write down

I don’t know about you but when I write stuff down, I feel a little more better and clear headed. It doesn’t have to be anything major, it could be a to do list or shopping list, an idea for a blog post or for a blog, a dream or goal I have, anything at all . Once I put it on paper, it’s like it’s halfway done or halfway solved.

Could be a little rant or worry, or feelings. All the feelings and doubts I had about any guy I was dating or who was asking me out are all documented in one sheet or the other. Lol. And it’s so much fun reading them years later.

Here are five things you ought to write down. Thank me later.lol.

1) God’s promises to you.

It could be any kind of promise, and writing it down reminds you of what God has promised to do for you. Even if what God says sounds incredible (if He tells you that you will employ other people when you have less than a hundred naira cash at hand) stifle your doubts,  just write it down. It helps give you clear prayer points, reminds you what God said concerning you, and reminds you of how awesome God is when it comes to pass.

2) Your dreams, and secret wishes .

You know those secret wishes and dreams that we can’t quite put in words articulately to others, because they wouldn’t understand why you are dreaming so big, or they will laugh at you, that place or person you want to become, that multimillion Dollar empire you want to own, that star you want to become,WRITE IT DOWN.

3)Plans, and goals.

Most of us have short term and long term goals. They usually aren’t spontaneous since we must have spent time coming up with them. However, putting them down helps to remind you not to give up. It is also good for reference purposes, as it helps you keep track of what you want to do and how far you have gone. If you start a new business for instance, you can write down what you intend to achieve, and how you intend to go about it.

4) Ideas .

This is  usually more spontaneous than plans and goals. Most times you have a broad idea of your goals in your head, but an amazing  idea can come to you in the middle of the Night, or even in a market or Church. It helps to put these down so that you don’t forget.

As a blogger, i find that writing down my ideas I have for this blog, and posts helps me a lot. Some of this ideas are usually spontaneous. And if I hadn’t written it down, I may have forgotten about them.

5) Your dreams.

This time around I mean the ones you have when you sleep.

God often communicates to us through dreams, and it is extremely important to write down the stuff you dream about so that you don’t forget. Even if you don’t understand them, write them down because a dream is most vivid immediately you wake up. You may remember what happened in general but after some time you forget the little details, the words used, where and who said what. And all of these can be important later on. I am amazed when I realize that I had dreams of stuff that are happening now, years back. And if I hadn’t put them down, I assure you there is no way I would have remembered.

6) Your Feelings, doubts, and emotions.

I can’t say when I started writing stuff down , but i was a loner so my deepest thoughts always went on paper.

It’s so funny now when I read what I wrote  years ago about some guy or the other, especially when I was ” catching feelings lol).It also gave me some perslective. I didn’t have a diary per se but I was usually very honest to myself about any guy I was dating. Later on, when I looked at what I wrote then I realized that I was usually right. If the guy seemed like a jerk then, he usually turned out to be one.

P.S. You don’t need to be a writer or an author to write things down, you don’t need a fancy handwriting or any “senrenren”, you can write in code or in pidgin if you like.

You don’t even need a fancy journal. I write on anything and everything, and I don’t have any kind of diary. If inspiration strikes in Church ( interesting, most of the ideas for this blog came to me in church) I write it down on my jotter. Even when there’s no one and paper in sight, I borrow.

interesting to read. loner I am :). Turns out it’s way easier for me to explain things in writing compared to talking. I write anywhere and on scraps of paper. when I’m without a pen, I can feel so misaligned! lol. I can even write imaginary discussions when I’m bored; I hope that means I’m still sane. I enjoy reading them later on though, quite entertaining and sometimes informative. oh look, I got carried away typing…

Me too. I remember one time i got into trouble at home,my dad was furious even after all my stammering explanations, I just wrote him a long letter lol.
It’s easier for me to write what I am feeling. Plus I love writing.
You are still sane jare. How do you think all those bestselling authors started.
Have you ever thought of writing a story or a book, fiction or non fiction, or starting a blog?
I think you will make a good blogger.
You can also write an article and send to this blog or other blogs.
      What do you think?

I walk about with a pen and a little scribbled paper. A habit my dad helped all of us formed while growing up. Each evening he would ask us what we wrote during the day or what ideas did we conceive and penned down.

While it was hectic, I later in life knew the importance of that. Today I write so much but I owe that to my dad.

Ideas for anything can come to you at any time or point in life.

    Nice tips.

Your dad didn’t waste time at all, at all. He was team catch them young. Lol.
Seriously! That idea was a very good one. I am sure it helped you to be creative and think of new stuff.
If he’s anything like my dad, you better come up with something when he asks you a question. Anything! Just say something.
You are right. Ideas can come anytime and anywhere. Nowadays, I find myself writing stuff down even more than usual.
