Review: Tight ( In God’s name)

I used to be a big fan of Nollywood movies but the generic storylines put me off and I found a new love in TV series and Telemundo. Until I discovered Iroko TV, and slowly I have been renewing my love for movies and on that basis I am going to attempt my first movie review here. Let me know how I do oh. Lol.

Let me first start by saying I don’t understand the title, call me old schooled but I feel the title of a movie should at least let me know what it’s about. Mba! Not this one, by the time I finished,I didn’t know what was tight or why God’s name had to be put there( it’s set in a church) .

The first scene is set in the Pastor’s home, he tells his wife, played by Jackie Appiah that he feels that that day’s service was going to be glorious and that the Holy  spirit was going to move.

Well he was right! The spirit did move but not in the way he expected. Lol.

Apparently, under the cover of praise worship and prayers, a lot was going on in the church, and it would all be revealed in a spectacular fashion later on. The funny thing is that all the key players in the Church were all involved.

The pastor ( fine guy and very Charismatic,if he had a church in real life, let’s just say a lot of people would go there) is sleeping with his ” Daughters of Zion”, a group of young girls.

Daughters of Zion

Also turns out that he is involved in the occult and killed a set of twin girls to achieve his aim.

The Pastors wife, played by the ever fabulous Jackie Appiah is sleeping with her Driver.

There is also a gay Choir leader, an evil female leader in the church who is responsible for another member’s barrenness, an assistant pastor who is sleeping with a church member and got her pregnant etc etc.

It also turned out that the pastor’s ” miracle” sessions were all scripted by him and his P.A.

The bubble burst in Church during a live service when the Pastor declared that he was tired of healing the sick and that he needed to raise a dead person.

He thought it would be a fake dead person,as per someone alive pretending to be dead but Alas! his P.A who was angry with him set him up with a real dead person. Come and see Pastor sweating and commanding the dead to rise. Lol

When the dead no gree wake, he carried Bible and anointing oil, still the girl no stand up.

A man stood up in the church and began to list the different atrocities committed by each of the members starting with the pastor and his wife.

A broken and very embarrassed pastor

At the end, the congregeration deserted him, he became paralyzed and only his wife stood by him.

Majid Micheal wasn’t in the movie per se,imageHe was sort of an offline commentator. Why they chose to wrap his head is beyond me.

I liked the premise of the movie. Believe it or not, such things are happening in our churches. The Stubborn pastor who refuses to listen to God’s warning ( a sister in the church was given a message for the pastor), fornication and adultery in the house of God, occultism, homosexualism and all sorts are hidden under the guise of ” Christianity”.

We really have to watch the kind of Churches we go to. Also, it’s no wonder the church members were not living a righteous life, it flows from the top, and they partook of their pastors anointing even if they had no idea what was going on. A corrupt tree cannot bring good fruits.

Concerning the movie itself, the casting was perfect and spot on. The camera they used wasn’t too sharp, but at least I could see what was going on. The choice of a real church setting was great. And the praise worship sessions were very realistic, I almost forgot that it was a movie and joined in a couple of times. Lol.

Pastor’s wife

I don’t know if I liked the ending so much. The pastor became paralyzed, sure and lost all his congregation. His wife managed to remain with him.  The congregation weren’t forgiving at all. They disappeared (they had no chill) . But i was torn between him getting redemption and being forgiven and justice getting hold of him. What about the twin girls he killed, wasn’t he supposed to pay for that?

End of review.

Is anybody reading this subscribed to Iroko TV? Let me know. They now have their own studio so there is a ton of amazing films available.

plus how did I do? Do you think the pastor ought to have been forgiven by his congregation? I know God will surely have forgiven him. Will you stay back in that kind of Church?

Lol. It’s Tight (in God’s name).
To tell the truth, they are all mostly the same storylines, you just have to find the one that tells it’s own in a compelling and interesting manner, with good acting, and with a slightly different twist.
This one is no award material, but still good to watch. I think. And it’s set in Ghana, so some new faces.

Yes it is. Tight (in God’s name) or if it’s google, tight and Jackie Appiah should do the trick.
Sorry, I am replying this late. Just noticed it today in spam.
